Blessed: Empty
What does it really mean to be blessed? In this message, we begin a new series through the Beatitudes and discover that Jesus redefines blessing in a way that turns our expectations upside down.
Rather than pointing to success, comfort, or strength, Jesus declares blessing over those who are poor in spirit, those who mourn, and the meek. These aren’t signs of weakness—they are the doorway into the Kingdom of God. To be poor in spirit is to recognize our deep need for God. To mourn is to grieve sin honestly. To be meek is to live with strength that is surrendered to God’s authority.
The message challenges us to see that before God fills us, He must first empty us—of pride, self-reliance, control, and sin. True blessing begins not with what we gain, but with what we lay down. Emptiness is the starting point of life in God’s Kingdom.
